After 99 posts, 453 comments (54 of which are spam which I have not deleted nor approved) and 699 tags, I come to this, my 100th post.
To think that YouWantToBeRich started as just a requirement to get a certificate in MavenSecrets, a professional blogging and internet marketing education seminar that I attended in 2009.
I did not know that it would change my life and give it colors that I never knew existed, or give me opportunities for self-expression and advocacy in a niche that I was just getting really interested in at that time.
At first, I thought I would go into food and travel because like Anton’s OurAwesomePlanet, it was my passion. I even asked hubby to buy me a camera to herald my entry into the blogosphere via a food and travel blog.
But I am glad I went down the path of learning about money and people and their money idiosyncracies (especially my own and my family’s). It felt good to chronicle this journey and to look back and learn from it again.
But oh boy! It was not easy. Writing 8-12 pieces a month was a challenge. I really thought I would bog down and not be able to do it. But now that it is so necessary to me (keeps me sane and happy), I am hoping I would find the time to write more.
I guess that’s when you find out that you are doing something you love – when you no longer do it for other people, or for approval, but for your own survival.
And I have learned a lot on the way, met some spectacular people, some of whom became partners in various endeavors.
So some thank you’s are in order.
To my mentor, Anton Diaz, who led me to this path and to Connie Veneracion of Home Cooking Rocks (who was one of Anton’s speakers) who led me to the BlogHer family. To my MavenSecrets classmates (most of whom are in my blog roll) who supported and continue to inspire me. To Salve and our financial planners Joe and Nannette with whom I have MoneyDoctors, a financial planning and coaching organization that is touching the lives of many Filipinos in the Philippines and abroad. To my other mentors, some of them real (Bo Sanchez) and imagined (Warren Buffett). To my family and friends who patiently endured my tirades, especially my mom who patiently and lovingly forgave me for some of the things I said. To my hubby who, through all these years, still serves as my inspiration. To my daughter who is my love and my light. To my yet unborn son who gives me yet another reason to love life. To my past and present which is giving me so much realization (and material).
And to my readers, who continue to be my reason for wanting to come out with exceptional pieces. Thank you for the trust. I hope we continue to explore the possibilities of each other.
Again, thank you.
